Down In New Orleans

Epsilon, Tulane University

I had so much fun visiting Tulane for the first time! They were in full recruitment mode when I arrived on Thursday night and we jumped right into the preparations. The recruitment team was so much fun and I loved getting to know them all, while staying confined to the small back room. It was quite the bonding experience!

While I didn't get the chance to visit the French Quarter this visit, I did get to visit around the campus area. I had been to New Orleans once before for an alternative break my sophomore year and they took us to see different parts of the city. But I never saw the campus so I was happy to explore!

The campus is so pretty, with lots of gates like the one above. This tree, full of Mardi Gras beads, is also a staple to the New Orleans campus. Down on the south end of campus is where you can find some really beautiful old houses. I love the architecture, with a the French-inspired balconies. I would have liked to hop on the streetcar right there and do some touring but I was glad I got to see some nice architecture by campus.

Saturday and Sunday were packed full with recruitment rounds. I think I got a total of 8 hours of sleep all weekend but I had so much fun! I loved the decorations for philanthropy round and I even got to go on house tours to see other chapters during both open house and philanthropy rounds. There was a good group of consultants on our tour and I had so much fun getting to know them all and chatting about our travels!

I also had some great food during my visit to Tulane. The first day of recruitment, one of the women picked up lunch for us during the break. I took their advice and ordered the mozzarella and prosciutto sandwich, which was delicious. Crepes A la Cart is right on Broadway, where AEPhi and many other houses are. A lot of juniors and seniors also live on Broadway so it was super easy to walk there. The shop is tiny, with literally only enough room for about two customers to wait in line. They make the crepes right in front by the register and they all looked so good.
